Job title:              Property Consultant Required


The role:

Answer calls, registering new buyers & sellers directly onto our database and maintain regular contact. Maintaining systems, general office duties.

Source and access properties either already on the market through online portals or via direct canvassing, making contact with the owners to build relationships in order to generate valuation appointments for the Sales Manager.

Development of the role to deal with the day to day estate agency sales business and assist the Sales Manager in reaching personal and office targets


You will be directly responsible to the Sales Manager, who will offer training, advice, support and necessary marketing materials to assist your role.

Targets:                To be confirmed.

Salary:                  £16,000 - £23,000 per annum plus commission

Hours:                   8.30 – 6.00 pm

                               Monday – Saturday (one day off to be taken during the week (Either Tuesday or Thursday)

In addition:

You will need to be a car driver with a full licence and of smart appearance along with a confident assured telephone manner.

Must be I.T. literate with a good working knowledge of Word, Excel, etc.

So…do you want to talk to us.

I mean who wants to talk to an estate agent? Are they not people who are only interested in your money and have no interest in you?

Is your perception that we sit around all day, occasionally picking up the ‘phone, arrange a viewing, agree a sale and then get paid a lot of money for not doing an awful lot of work?

Are people really bothered as long as they sell their home for the right price – or is there a big mis-understanding of what we really do, how we achieve the owner’s goals and that we actually do care about the community and our clients?

The reason I’ve posted this question is that our office has been discussing today the values of inter-acting with people to let them know more about us and more about who we are on social media e.g. facebook.

We know we are good at what we do, as clients who have used us – have told us. We also know that we have some very nice, caring people that work here – again the chocolates, bottle of wine, thank you cards and the repeat business confirms this. So how do we let others know this?

Well, everyone says you must be on facebook and twitter and communicating with the local community.

Well we are. But are people really interested in what we did down at the pub, or that we had a nice lasagne at some expensive gastro-pub? We could video our office dog, Liesel answering the phone. Would that be more interesting?

Do you want to know the latest governments stance on Brexit. Or how about the fact your property has gone up in value 0.2% in the last 2 years compared to Scunthorpe (with apologies to Scunthorpe).

So back to the beginning. Do you want to talk to us – or do you want us to talk to you?

What is it that you want to hear if you do?

So, come on everyone out there in facebook land. Take some time to let me know what excites you (careful!) and what facts, information, stories you want to see.

Love your Home……. Valentine’s Day has arrived and the shops are crammed with presents and cards for the one you love.

But what about your home. Have you fallen out of love with your home? Does yours need a bit of love and attention? A thorough clean throughout and a lick of paint, adding a few smelly candles and some flowers will make you fall in love again with your home.

To start you on the road, I found Mary Berry has recently brought out a book “Marys Household Tips & tricks. It covers everything from sorting your wardrobe to organising your kitchen.

Lets get started.

  1. Declutter

Do you hold on to sentimental things still and cannot let them go because they hold treasured memories. If so, have you thought of making them into a piece of art. If you have any special Jewellery, theatre tickets, special occasion cards, baby clothing. Can these be professional framed and put on the wall? How about making a collage, there are plenty of companies on line that do this type of thing. How about having a project and do this for yourself. Get in that loft and start sorting.


  1. Cleaning

Making your home smell nice creates scents that can change your mood. I use lavender oil in a bucket with hot water to clean woodwork. There are plenty of aromatherapy oils that can be used. Gives my house a peaceful smell and keeps you calm. I prefer natural cleaning products instead of chemicals as using bleach is too harsh. Try using oils as a natural way of cleaning.

  1. Painting

If some rooms need a lick of paint, it does not have to cost the earth. There are lots of ideas on pinterest, internet and magazines with the latest trends. Wallpaper feature walls, colour ideas. Don’t forget though if you are looking to sell don’t go too wild!


  1. Light, action!

In these dark month, we all long for the summer.

To bring in more light, make sure your windows have been cleaned inside and out it is amazing how much light you get after this is done. Tie back your curtains, use light and space paint which is said to be twice as reflective as other paint. Whites and off-whites will reflect a lot of light. Warm up your room with a colourful comfy chairs, sofas, blankets and cushions.

Don’t forget to add the flowers. These do not have to be fresh. Lots of department stores now sell some fantastic artificial ones that look real. Place in an elegant vase, add some mirrors on the wall. Homemade potpourri. Hey Presto done.


  1. Finally, don’t forget to take care of yourself.


If you love reading, knitting or sewing. Make a cosy corner for yourself adding your favourite chair, throw, table and a lamp.

Add a personal item, maybe a favourite photo or something that brings great memories that make you smile. Add your latest book that you are in to and take time out. Finally, put your feet up, chill and have a Great “Valentines Day”.






In 1980 Havering opened a state of the art pyramid roof swimming pool / leisure centre "The Dolphin". Great days were spent here swimming, teaching our children to swim. It provided a good place for meetings, exhibitions and social events. 

So it was sad that in 1995 it was closed to the public due to safety fears, costs to repair and operating costs. 

A new swimming pool was promised, but instead the council sold the land to build what is there today a residential tower block and a shopping center.

Now after 23 years, too long in my opinion, on the 3rd February, we will be getting our new Sapphire Ice and Leisure which is named after the sapphire reign of our Queen Elizabeth. Longest reigning monarch.

This will enhance Romford for sure, bringing in extra revenue to local shops as people flock from all over Havering to enjoy this multi million pound leisure centre which includes an ice rink, which will see the Raiders Ice Hockey team return, swimming pools, fitness area including saunas and steam rooms and dance studios. 

I am looking forward to this long awaited leisure centre as having lived in Havering for over 30 years, it is nice to see something good coming in for us residents. May this be a start for our Haveringinarians!  who could not travel too far to now have a fitness centre that the young and old can use for many years to come and improve our fitness and well being.
